Mumbai’s MMRDA Grounds witnessed a musical extravaganza yesterday when the renowned British rock band Coldplay made their debut performance at the much touted Global Citizen Festival India concert.
The band performed for around 90 minutes taking the MMRDA grounds with a storm, given that Coldplay has a hufe fan following in the country.
With a night full of power-packed performances and several takeaway moments, the event was indeed a huge hit.
But what stole the show was Coldplay's frontman Chris Martin singing ‘Vande Mataram’ with music maestro A R Rahman at the end of the concert.
Besides, they also sang Rahman’s popular song ‘Maa Tujhe Salaam’.
This is not all. By the end of his performance, Chris Martin was also seen waving the national flag as well.
It was indeed a heart-warming moment for everyone present there.
The singer is in the country as part of the Global Citizen India initiative 2016. He even sang several numbers from his albums including Paradise, Viva La Vida, Yellow, Fix You etc
Amongst the Bollywood numbers, Martin chose to croon the song ‘Channa Mereya’ from Ranbir Kapoor-Anushka Sharma starred ‘Ae Dil Hai Muhskil’. His version of the song did leave the audience enthralled.
While performing on the stage, the singer also praised India calling it a beautiful country. In fact, he even began his performance with "Namaste friends, yeh hamari khushkismati hai ki itne khoobsurat desh mein aaye hain”.
Cited as the biggest entertainment event of the year, the Global Citizen Festival India 2016 had several B-town celebs marking their presence at the concert.
From Amitabh Bachchan to Shah Rukha Khan, Ali Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Sachin Tendulkar Monali Thakur, Arijit Singh, etc, several celebs shared the stage at the event.
