Chhapaak: Was Deepika Padukone left teary-eyed on the first day of shoot?

After Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat, actress Deepika Padukone is all set to return on the big screens with Meghna Gulzar's directorial venture Chhapaak. The film, which is based on acid attack survivor  Laxmi Agarwal, is Deepika Padukone’s maiden project as a producer. The actress is co-producing the film under her banner Ka Productions.

The shoot of Chhapaak started a couple of months back and the team has wrapped up the first schedule. It last from March 25 to April 19. "The project is an emotional roller-coaster for Deepika. She broke down on the first day of the shoot. It happened when she was shooting for the first scene and having discussions with the filmmaker. However, Deepika was quick to regain her composure and the shoot proceeded nicely", a source was quoted as saying to a daily.

Laxmi Agarwal survived an acid attack at the age of 15. She was attacked by a man and his two friends because she refused to marry the former. Since the incident, she has been campaigning against acid violence and the sale of acid. She founded an organisation called Stop Sale Acid to achieve this goal. Laxmi Agarwal was bestowed with the 2014 International Women of Courage award by the then US First Lady Michelle Obam

The film will release on January 10 next year.
