The infamous suicide attempt of popular Bigg Boss Tamil contestant Oviya Helen has landed her in legal trouble. The Nazarathpet police has reportedly summoned the South Indian actress after a complaint was filed by an advocate alleging that Oviya attempted suicide inside the Bigg Boss house, according to a Hindu report. The Kamal Haasan hosted show is slowly emerging as the most controversial shows in the Indian Television history. The complaint was filed by Saravanan who said that the show’s participants had to stay cooped inside a closed compound for 100 days and had to take the permission of the producers to leave the premises.

Furthermore, the petitioner alleged the Vijay TV reality show aired visuals of Oviya Helen drowning in the pool of the house and, trying to commit suicide. Saravanan has asked the police to file an inquiry into the actress’s alleged suicide attempt, report added.

The complainant further said that Oviya’s suicide bid was brought on by depression as a result of activities forced on her by the show’s host Kamal Haasan, the producers and Vijay TV.  Thesuicide attempt was telecast on TV to gather TRP ratings for Bigg Boss Tamil and the channel, the complaint further added.

In response, the Nazarathpet police Inspector Jaichandran said the complaint has been recorded in the Community Social Register (CSR). “We spoke to Oviya’s personal secretary, who denied that she attempted suicide,” the police inspector was quoted as saying to the Hindu.

Meanwhile, the Madras High Court has sought details of the mechanism available under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for monitoring such issues, as per a Times of India report.

Responding to the PIL filed by Saravanan, the first bench of Chief Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice M Sundar, directed the assistant solicitor general representing the Centre to specify what mechanism is available.
