On June 1 today, three big releases Veere Di Wedding, Bhavesh Joshi Superhero and Phamous are giving tough competition to each other for a big opening. Let’s have a look at what they have to offer.
Veere Di Wedding
Directed by Shashanka Ghosh, VDW has been ruling the headlines since Day 1. Rich with talented actors like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania, the movie is ‘not a chick flick’ as the makers claim. It is a coming of age film that revolves around the life of four childhood friends as they struggle through trials and tribulations in modern day world, regarding family acceptance, marriage & societal perceptions. The movie is backed up by Rhea Kapoor, Nikhil Dwivedi, Ekta Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor and Anil Kapoor.
Loaded with upbeat energy and glamour, the movie is expected to earn Rs 6-7 crore on Day 1. Read Movie Review

Bhavesh Joshi Superhero
Vikramaditya Motwane’s vigilante drama Bhavesh Joshi Superhero is not a regular film but deals with a serious issue of corruption in politics. Starring Harshvardhan Kapoor in the lead, the movies definitely intrigues with its quirky posters and out of the box concept. It won’t be wrong to call it a revenge drama as the lead actor avenges the death of his friend who gets killed by the politician. The movie is produced by Vikramaditya Motwane, Anurag Kashyap, Vikas Bahl and Madhu Mantena Varma.
Film trade analyst Girish Johar expects the film to collect somewhere around Rs 1.75 crore at the box office.
Phamous
However, Phamous doesn’t have a big brand name attached to it, the movie speaks high because of the bunch of extremely talented actors in it- Jimmy Sheirgill, Kay Kay Menon and Mahie Gill. The movie is a romantic crime drama that deals with the power struggle between four main characters in the Chambal region of Madhya Pradesh. Directed by Karan Lalit Bhutani and produced by Raj Khatri, Vidisha Productions and Amitabh Chandra, the movie will be the third film shot in Chambal region.
With big films like Veere’ and Bhavesh Joshi’ releasing along with Phantom, it is expected that it will take away a lot of limelight from the movie but good word of mouth can work well for Phamous.
