New Delhi: The hit comedy show ‘Bhabhiji Ghar Pe Hai’ has been shrouded in controversy after the lead actress Shilpa Shinde who plays the role of Angoori Bhabhi has walked out of the show.
Post her exit she made some shocking revelations about the show and went on saying that the channel tortured her mentally. Angoori Bhabhi’s allegations on the channel landed her in legal trouble. The channel blamed her for being unprofessional starting another controversy.
While the allegations and counter-allegations don’t seem to stop any time soon, Shilpa’s co-star Saumya Tandon has spoken up on the matter. Saumya plays the role of Anita Bhabhi. While speaking to a leading daily, Saumya said that Shilpa’s action shocked everyone on the show. She said:
“It came as a surprise for all of us. Shilpa never discussed her problems with us. All we knew that she stopped coming for the shoot. There is no question of harassment or torture on the sets. We all come, work, pack-up on time and the facilities are also good here. She never spoke to us about any of her problems. We had nothing to do with matter. I don't understand why our name was dragged into the entire controversy.”
Shilpa said that she had to wear her own clothes during shooting which was not professional on the part of the producers. Saumya, on the other hand said that she made it clear to the producers that she will take care of her own make up and costumes.
“At the beginning of the show when I signed the contract, I had made it clear to the producers that I will manage my own designer and make-up. The producers were very sweet and very gracefully they agreed to this condition. This is also mentioned in my contract. From that day onwards my costume and make-up was my responsibility. Post signing the contract the producers never bothered if I wore a Rs 2 costume or a Sabyasachi designer wear. It became my headache.”

When Saumya was asked why she did not stand up for Shilpa, she said,
“Standing up for what? The 'Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai' set is the most happy place to be at. In the past one year we have never faced any kind of problem. We are always seen having fun, joking around on the set. I would like to say, our producer Benaifer Kohli is the most professional lady. I don't know what has gone wrong between Shilpa and her. I can't comment as I don't know anything about the entire controversy. Whatever wrong has happened, I feel things can be resolved by talking it out.”
Saumya said she is still hoping that Shilpa understands that the show is a great one and returns back.
“It is very sad that our names have unnecessary got dragged into this. Passing such personal comment on co-stars is in very bad taste. Aasif Sheikh has a decade long career and Rohitashv Ji has great body of work as well. I have also been in this industry for last 10 years. I am shocked Shilpa has such things to say about us. It would be below my dignity to comment on Shilpa's insecurity remarks. It is a very petty allegation,”
said Saumya when asked to react to Shilpa’s allegations of insecurity.
