Year Ender 2018: AndhaDhun to Sanju, best Bollywood films of 2018

The year 2018 proved to be a very successful one for Bollywood. Several films made it to the cinema halls and, moviegoers were left spoilt for choices. From horror comedy to romance to drama, dozens of Bollywood movies were released. While some big-budgeted and anticipated movies films such as Thugs of Hindostan left the audience disappointed, there were films that stood out from the crowd and made it to our hearts forever. We have listed out the best movies of Bollywood 2018 that shouldn't be missed.

Here are 5 best Bollywood Films of 2018

AndhaDhun

Release date:  5 October

Cast: Ayushmann Khuranna, Tabu, Radhika Apte

The success of AndhaDhun was rather startling! Sriram Raghavan’s AndhaDhun, sprinkled with sheer brilliance of writing and direction, is what they wanted. AndhaDhun belonged to Ayushmann as the film revolved around his 'blindness'. He shed his image of a romantic hero and delivered a performance he might find challenging to ace. Meanwhile, Tabu as Simi was at her fascinating best. The thriller made a handsome Rs 74.24 crore at the box-office.

Stree

Release date: 31 August

Cast: Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana

Stree offered a slice of supernatural and sitcom that wasn’t misogynistic or bawdy. With its soft feminism, Stree became more than just a horror film. Raj and DK brought their A game, Pankaj Tripathi led an exemplary supporting cast and, of course, Rajkummar Rao stole the show. The scene where he has to look into the banshee’s eyes with love, while he is shitting bricks, will go down as one of the best examples of comedic acting in recent memory.

Badhaai Ho

Release date: 18 October

Cast: Ayushmann Khurrana, Sanya Malhotra, Neena Gupta, Gajraj Rao

Badhaai Ho is near-perfect cinematically, boasting a crisp screenplay, smart cinematography and editing and winning performances by Ayushmann Khurrana, Neena Gupta, Gajraj Rao and Surekha Sikri. It also discusses individuality, sexual desire and the freedom to enjoy physical pleasure sans social diktats, bias and shame.

Raazi

Release date: 11 May

Cast: Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Rajit Kapur, Shishir Sharma, and Jaideep Ahlawat

Alia owned the film like a boss. To get into the skin of her character, Alia learned hand-to-hand combat, driving, and also, took brief lessons on how Morse code works.

Sanju

Release date: 29 June

Cast: Ranbir Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala, Anushka Sharma, Vicky Kaushal, and Jim Sarbh

The movie is a biopic on the controversial life of the actor It spans around his film career, jail sentence and personal life. Ranbir Kapoor as Sanjay Dutt  took his acting skills too seriously for this film. Not only has he worked on the his voice modulation and dialogues, Ranbir went through an extensive physical transformation and the results were just spectacular.
