Ayushmann Khurrana and Sanya Malhotra’s film Badhaai Ho is touching the sky as numbers continue to pour in. After witnessing his first 100 crore mark, Ayushmann Khurrana is living his dream and even though there was competition from Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan’s film Thugs of Hindostan. The actor managed to remain the unbeatable king of the box office this month as well with good content and sparkling sense of humour in his roles. Badhaai Ho has managed to earn 125.10 crores in Week 5 and has crossed the lifetime business of Alia Bhatt’s film Raazi. It is expected to cross Rajkummar Rao’s Stree’s box office collection as well in the coming days.
Bollywood critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to his Instagram to share the latest numbers of Badhaai Ho. He wrote, Weak competition from new releases + poor response to holdover titles seem to benefit #BadhaaiHo... #BadhaaiHo crosses *lifetime biz* of #Raazi and is expected to cross #Stree in few days... [Week 5] Fri 95 lakhs, Sat 1.60 cr, Sun 2.15 cr. Total: ₹ 125.10 cr. India biz. #BadhaaiHo biz at a glance...Week 1: ₹ 66.10 cr…Week 2: ₹ 28.15 cr….Week 3: ₹ 15.35 cr…..Week 4: ₹ 10.80 cr….Weekend 5: ₹ 4.70 cr…..Total: ₹ 125.10 cr India biz. BLOCKBUSTER.” Indeed it is a blockbuster.
Badhaai Ho not just managed to impress the critic and viewers, but megastar Amitabh Bachchan was also head over heels about the brilliant performances in the film. He even wrote a personalised note to veteran actress Neena Gupta after watching her film. The actress shared the picture and captioned it as: "Aapse ye patr aur pushp paake ankhen khushi se bhar aain. Thank you so much, Amitabh Bachchan sir. (Got tears in my eyes after receiving this letter and flowers from you. Thank you Amitabh Bachchan sir." In the letter, Big B, 76, praised the film and the acting by the entire cast. He said he got tears of joy after watching it.
Badhaai Ho is the story of a middle-class family based in Delhi that is embarrassed with an accidental pregnancy in the house. Starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Sanya Malhotra, Gajraj Rao, Neena Gupta and Surekha Sikri in the lead roles, the film was applauded by film critics for its quirky content and dazzling performances. The word of mouth, too, was totally in the favour of the film, that immensely helped its performance at the box-office.
