At a time when the “nepotism rocks” act by Karan Johar, Saif Ali Khan and Varun Dhawan at IIFA has sparked several controversies, writer Apurva Asrani spoke about Kangana Ranaut. The Queen actress, who started off the debate at Koffee with Karan, has been accused of practising nepotism herself. Apurva took to his social media and slammed the actress hinting at hypocrisy. He said that Kangana has hired her sister Rangoli as her manager and, also promotes brother Akshit at every event.
Taking to his Twitter handle, the writer said “I hired my brother as addnl writer on my new film. #Kangana hired her sister as manager & now promotes her brother. All guilty of #nepotism?”.
On the other hand, Kangana’s sister Rangoli was quick to respond and said,"@Apurvasrani I am her sister and i am with her in that capacity, my brother is a pilot and don't you dare to bring him in to this”.
Further, lashing out at Apurva she said that drinking coffee and watching films with one's brother did not qualify as nepotism.
This isn’t the first time that Apurva Asrani has hit out at the Queen actress. In a recent instance, he claimed that the actress was simply lying about co-writing Simran film, which is helmed by Hansal Mehta. The filmmaker has previously worked with Apurva in critically acclaimed films such as Shahid, CityLights and Aligarh.
In a winding post that quickly has gone viral on Facebook, Asrani revealed that the Rangoon actress had demanded a co-writer credit simply because she wanted to seem credible now that she was turning a director.
“It was only the day after I finished the first cut of the film that Hansal called me to meet. He informed me nervously that Kangana is turning director, and therefore has demanded a co writer credit,” wrote Asrani, adding that he felt both shocked and betrayed at the proposal, but firmly refused to give in. “
