New Delhi: Movie Nayak was released in the year 2001 featuring actor Anil Kapoor, Rani Mukherjee and late Amrish Puri in the lead roles. The movie resulted to be a block buster at the box office.
Now, after 15 years Eros International and producer Deepak Mukut have got the official rights from the original producer of Nayak AM Rathnam to make a sequel. The producers have decided to retain Anil Kapoor for the lead role.
The work for script is already underway and will be completed within next three months. However, the dates of shoot and release of movie is yet to revealed.
Speaking to news portal Deepak Mukut said, “I have bought the rights from AM Rathnam, the original producer. The sequel will be a political satire with romance as the backdrop. It will take off from where the original one left but with a completely different story. Some characters, like the lead, Shivaji Rao (played by Anil), will be retained."
The producer said, "The earlier film is still extremely popular and is widely watched on television. The action will be bigger and better this time."
