New Delhi: Actor Anil Kapoor, it seems is on the way to revamp the Indian television industry.
After bringing to Indian audience, the first season of the global series ‘24’, Kapoor is gearing up for the second one.
The trailer of the thriller of the second season was released yesterday. The series will air on Colors in July. The channel is yet to reveal the date of telecast.
This season, the series features a plethora of renowned faces of film and television industry including Sakshi Tanwar, Surveen Chawla, Ashish Vidyarthi, Sikander Kher, Amruta Khanvilkar, Angad Bedi, Anita Raj, Harsh Chhaya, Madhurima Tulli, Neil Bhoopalam, Raghav Chanana, Sapna Pabb and Sudhanshu Pandey.
Given the star cast this season seems to be bigger and better than the last one.
While the fans of the series are waiting with bated breath for the second season to air, we have decoded how this season will set new benchmarks in the television industry:
Breaking the stereotypes on TV:
In the trailer, the protagonist Jai Singh Rathore, played by Anil Kapoor is seen locking lips with actress Surveen Chawala. Now, this is kind of a shocker on many levels. First, actors of the stature of Anil don’t lock lips on silver screen, let alone television. Secondly, Surveen is depicted as the ‘second’ woman in his life, is much younger to him, who fills the void after his wife Tisca Chopra dies. This points out, that Anil is all set to break the stereotypes around TV industry.

The Haunted past
Jai in this season of 24, is haunted by his past. In the first season we saw how he successfully managed to save the future Prime Minister of the country from getting killed. But, on his way he loses a lot, his wife topping the list. It is then he starts having drinking problems and is send to rehab. The way Anil Kapoor rises from the bed in the beginning of the trailer suggests that he is still haunted by his past.
Jai’s grey shades:
Anil Kapoor’s character in this season will have no dearth of grey shades. After staying true to his nation and duties, in the first season, he doesn’t shy away from joining hands with terrorists in this one. However, towards the end of the trailer one realises that maybe Jai is playing his own game.
