Veteran actress Amrita Singh, who was roped in for Arjun Kapoor’s upcoming ‘Mubarakan’, has walked out of the movie in the eleventh hour.
The news was confirmed by producer Murad Khetani who stated that the actress refused to do the movie owing to date issues.
‘Mubarakan’ is a comedy flick also starring veteran actor Anil Kapoor.
It was reported that Amrita was supposed to play Arjun Kapoor’s mother and Anil’s elder sister in the movie.
Interestingly, while Amrita has played mother to Arjun in his 2014 release ‘2 States’, she would have been reuniting with Anil Kapoor after around three decades.
Amrita and Anil were last seen in Mahesh Bhatt’s 1987 release ‘Thikana’. In fact their movie ‘Chameli Ki Shaadi’ is also one of the popular movies of Indian cinema.
But looks like the audience will have to wait a little longer before the two actors share the screen space once again.
On the other hand, speculations are rife that the date issue isn’t the sole reason behind Amrita’s exit. Instead, she walked out of ‘Mubarakan’ owing to creative differences with the makers.
While everyone is speculating over the real reason behind Amrita leaving the movie, her decision indeed left the makers in a fix given that all the preparation were made regarding her character.
However, as per the recent buzz, the makers of ‘Mubarakan’ have found a solution to the problem.
Now veteran actress Ratna Pathak will be replacing for Amrita Singh in the movie.
Murad, while talking to an entertainment portal, stated that, Pathak will begin shooting in January.
“Her portion which was initially scheduled to be shot in November-December in London will now happen sometime in January. The Punjab schedule, originally planned for January, is being shot now”, Murad was quoted as saying.
Helmed by Anees Bazmee, ‘Mubarkan’ will have Arjun Kapoor in a double avatar. Besides Ileana D’Cruz and Athiya Shetty will be seen playing his respective love interests.
‘Mubarakan’ is scheduled to release on July 28 next year.
