Amrit Pal, who was known for portraying negative roles in the 80s and 90s, breathed his last at his Mumbai residence on Monday. The veteran actor was suffering from a prolonged illness. He was 76.  He mostly played villainous roles in films and shared screen space with top yesteryear stars such as Vinod Khanna, Dharmendra, Mithun Chakraborty, Anil Kapoor among others. The actor died at his residence in Malad, a western suburb of Mumbai. Amrit Pal is survived by his two daughters, a son, and grandchildren.

Pal was suffering from liver cirrhosis and was bedridden in the last few months before his death, his daughter Geeta Kaur confirmed."He was suffering from liver cirrhosis from a long time and was bedridden. He was hospitalised for quite a few days and was later brought home. He passed away at 5 pm yesterday at his home in Malad," Pal's daughter Geeta told PTI.

He started his career in Bollywood with Jeetendra- Sridevi starrer Jaal as a villain. Pal, who was famous for his villainous roles, garnered a lot of praise for his role in Rajiv Mehra’s directorial Pyar Ke Do Pal where Poonam Dhillon and Mithun Chakraborty were the lead actors.

It is sad that the industry lost yet another actor this year, but it is even sadder that not many people knew about Pal’s death. Bollywood also lost gems like Vinod Khanna and Om Puri earlier this year. Not just in Bollywood but quite a lot of renowned celebs in Hollywood are no more. In fact, very recently Rocky director John Avildsen also breathed his last as he passed away last week.
