Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt is celebrating his 70th birthday on Thursday. On this occasion, his daughter and actor Alia Bhatt announced the sequel of Pooja Bhatt’s 1991 hit film Sadak. The film starring Sanjay Dutt and Alia’s sister Pooja came out around 17 years ago and it was a massive success with many touting it to be the actor’s best performance till date. Now, the filmmaker has decided to helm a sequel of the romantic thriller which will have Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapur in addition to the original star cast.
Sharing the video, Alia Bhatt wrote, “A Mahesh Bhatt Film” followed by a heart emoji.
Also, she wrote an emotional post dedicated to her father Mahesh Bhatt on his 70th birthday.
On Wednesday, Alia Bhatt along with Sanjay Dutt and Aditya Roy Kapur was spotted at filmmakers Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt’s Mumbai office. The trio must have gathered under one roof to discuss this forthcoming project.
Sadak 2 was announced by Vishesh Films in July and it is all set to release in November 2019. Also, Sanjay Dutt will be sharing screen with Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapur for the first time. On the other hand, Alia and Aditya have featured together in Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Dear Zindagi. The film had Aditya in a cameo.
Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh also shared the news on his Twitter. He wrote, “The #Sadak2 team: Sanjay Dutt, Pooja Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapoor and Alia Bhatt with director Mahesh Bhatt... Produced by Mukesh Bhatt.”
Sadak 2 could be Alia Bhatt’s first film with her father Mahesh Bhatt. After wrapping up Brahmastra shoot in Bulgaria, the actress would now start working for her upcoming film Kalank. The Abhishek Kapoor film will have Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Kriti Sanon, Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit in important roles.
Sadak (1991) directed by Mahesh Bhatt, was a story of a taxi driver (Sanjay Dutt) who falls in love with a woman forced into prostitution (played by Pooja Bhatt). Falling in love with her, he tries to rescue her from the murky world of sex trade.
