This year the box office came across two of the major clashes. The first one was between Salman Khan’s ‘Sultan’ and Rajinikanth’s ‘Kabali’.
Interestingly, Salman Khan turned out to be the winner beating Thalaiva in terms of box office collections.
Before people could get over this mania, soon came another box office clash when two of the most talked movies released on the same day.
We are talking about Akshay Kumar’s ‘Rustom’ and Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Mohenjo Daro’.
A lot was said about this big clash. Despite both ‘Rustom’ and ‘Mohenjo Daro’ belonging to different genres, everyone was curious to know how the two movies had fared at the box office.
As per the first day collections, ‘Rustom’ was on the lead with a collection of Rs 14.11 crore and becoming the fourth highest opener of 2016. On the other hand, Hrithik’s periodical drama settled at Rs 8.87 crores only.
While the Akshay Kumar starrer continued to mint crores at the BO, it was expected that weekend will do wonders for ‘Mohenjo Daro’ and the movie might beat ‘Rustom’.
However, looks like love story isn’t just Hrithik’s cup of tea as ‘Mohenjo Daro’ has failed to leave a mark on the audience.
According to the Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh, ‘Rustom’ has done a fabulous business in its opening weekend with a collection of Rs 50.42 crores.
‘Mohenjo Daro’, on the other hand, has managed to earn Rs. 30.54 crores in its first weekend.
Looks like Akshay Kumar is giving a real hard time to Hrithik Roshan this time.
Only time will reveal if ‘Mohenjo Daro’ is able to catch up pace this week or will ‘Rutsom’ emerge as the ultimate winner.
