Akshay Kumar’s film PadMan based on a social initiative of menstrual hygiene, is all set to release on February 9, 2018. Directed by R Balki and bankrolled by Twinkle Khanna, the film features Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte in pivotal roles. A leading tabloid has reported that the superstar might be holding a special screening of PadMan for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Minister of I&B Smriti Irani among others.

On Monday, Akshay Kumar held a special screening of PadMan for Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani. Akshay now wants to hold a special screening for PM Modi and he has a reason behind it. He wants the Indian Prime Minister to spread awareness about menstrual hygiene through videos.

A source told Pinkvilla, “Akshay met up with the PM yesterday. Today's screening has been arranged for a specific reason. After the screening, Akshay will stress on how the film's message needs to reach the larger population and will pitch the idea of making educational videos for Doordarshan.”

If PM Modi agrees to Akshay Kumar’s plea, the PadMan team will shoot five short videos of 2 minutes each. These videos will be aired on Doordarshan targeting the rural population of India. None other than R Balki will be directing these videos.

Arunachalam Muruganantham will join the superstar for the special screening. The source also told that Muruganantham will also discuss the issue of GST and luxury tax applied on sanitary napkins.

The source further added, “Citing studies which prove that girls in villages drop out of school when they hit puberty, they will bat for napkins to be made available free of cost or at subsidised rates."
