When Akshay Kumar won his first National film award for Best actor for Rustom, there was buzz all around and, jury was criticized for allegedly being biased. Now, Khiladi Kumar’s good friend Saif Ali Khan has opened up and expressed his opinion.
The Rangoon actor said that someone had joked that if he could win National Film Award for Hum Tum, it was acceptable for Akshay to win the coveted award.
Speaking to a leading daily, Saif said, “There has been an uproar about Akshay's win at the National Awards. Someone joked if I can get National Award for 'Hum Tum', it's okay for Akshay Kumar to win. A lot of people actually think I won for ‘Omkara’, not ‘Hum Tum’. I take a little offence when people joke about my National Award win.”

The 46-year-old actor further said that he was almost forced to return the award, but he doesn’t agree with the concept of Award Wapasi.
“There are people who have been saying that I should return my award. But if someone is unhappy with the institution and wish to return his/her award. It’s great. Maybe it was a publicity stunt”, Saif said.
On the work front, Saif will be next seen in the official Hollywood remake of Chef. The film is directed by Raja Krishna Menon, who previously helmed Akshay Kumar starrer Airlift.
