Actor Akshay Kumar, today won the Best Actor Award at the at the 64th National Film Awards for his film Rustam. His Naam Shabana co-star Anupam Kher couldn’t control his happiness and congratulated the actor on social media. Interestingly, this is Khiladi Kumar’s first National Award.
Anupam took to microblogging site Twitter to share Akshay’s picture from Rustam and tweeted, “Congratulations to @akshaykumar for winning #NationalAward for #BestActor. What an inspirational career graph & reinvention of an actor.:)”
This is known to all that Akshay was not nominated in the Best actor category at Filmfare Awards. This created furore on social media with movie buffs slamming the award show for not nominating the talented actor. But, this time all Akshay fans can rejoice as his work has finally been acknowledged.

Sonam Kapoor’s Neerja bagged the film award at the National Film Awards. Actress Ziara Wasim received the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for Dangal. Pink bagged the best film award on social issues. The film featured Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu in pivotal roles.

On a related note, Akshay was recently seen playing a cameo in Taapsee Pannu starrer Naam Shabana. He is currently busy with the work of Twinkle Khanna’s first production venture Padman.
