Neeraj Pandey’s Aiyaary which features Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee in lead roles hit the cinema halls last Friday after being deferred for two times for averting clash with Akshay Kumar’s PadMan. The third day box-office collection of Aiyaary is out. The film fell flat on Sunday earning Rs 4.30 crore. Trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh wrote, “#Aiyaary fell flat on Sun... Growth in biz was missing... Weekend biz is lower than #AGentleman [₹ 13.13 cr] and #Ittefaq [₹ 16.05 cr] ... Overall, lacklustre... Fri 3.36 cr, Sat 4.04 cr, Sun 4.30 cr. Total: ₹ 11.70 cr. India biz”

Aiyaary is set against an army backdrop. It features Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee playing the roles of army officers in a storyline that brings to the forefront corruption within the system.

In India, the movie got a green signal for release after the Central Board of Film Certification reviewed the film, followed by a screening for the Ministry of Defence, which prescribed certain modifications.

On the audience response for Aiyaary in India, leading lady Rakul Preet Singh said: "On the whole, the film is getting good compliments. I am happy that after four years, the audience has seen me back on the Hindi film screen and I have got some positive response for that. A lot of people are talking that the film is so authentic in showing the way the army functions.

"People are really appreciating the dialogues as they are very crisp, so we all are very excited and looking forward to a more positive response from the audience."
