Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan together in Gulab Jamun
Bollywood couple Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan will feature together in Anurag Kashyap's next directorial venture titled Gulab Jamun. Aishwarya, who will be seen next in Fanney Khan, confirmed the news to an interview to Mid-Day that she has signed the film with husband Abhishek Bachchan. Abhishek and Aishwarya were last seen together, though not romantically paired, in Raavan in 2010.
The Sarabjit actress revealed that the film was offered to them a year and a half ago. “We had agreed on the idea then. However, it was around the same time that AB decided to take time out. After the hiatus, he returned with Manmarziyan, which coincidentally is directed by Anurag Kashyap. That’s when the chatter around Gulab Jamun began again, and we finally came on board. It is a beautiful script and we fit the narrative perfectly,” Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was quoted as saying to Mid-da.
“The script has to be interesting if a real-life couple is coming together”, the actress further added.
When asked about how they judge a script before giving their nod, Aishwarya Rai said, “We have got many scripts, and at times, we got tempted too. But then, we discuss it out loud. We take stock and say, ‘Does it excite us?’ Why should marriage define out choices? Shouldn’t we be actually approaching the story as individual actors?”
Gulab Jamun, which will reportedly be directed by Sarvesh Mewara, will be locked soon and an announcement by the Phantom Films banner is in the works.
On the work front, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is all geared up for the release of her film Fanney Khan wherein she plays a pop singer, Baby Singh. Her look from the movie has been widely appreciated. The actor will share screen space with Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao in Fanney Khan, which releases on August 3, 2018.
Abhishek Bachchan, on the other hand, will be seen in Manmarziyan alongside Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal.
