Actress Kangana Ranaut is receiving praises for her powerful performance in Hansal Mehta’s directorial venture Simran but the box office collection of the film didn’t turn out to be impressive. Reports were doing the rounds from quite some time that the budget of her next film Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi was reduced looking at the box office business of Simran but the producer of the film Kamal Jain has thrashed these reports.
According to an entertainment portal a source stated that historical films are expensive and looking at the box office collection of Simran the question has popped up if the lady will be able to recover the cost of a high budget film like Manikarnika. The source further added that Kangana is one of the highest paid actresses but she needs to be directed by good directors like Vikas Bahl and Anand L Rai to deliver a hit.
Manikarnika’s producer Kamal Jain has thrashed these reports saying that they have not reduced the budget of the film adding that Manikarnika started after Rangoon’s debacle. He went on to say that Rangoon was a bigger disaster than Simran and when they didn’t reduce the budget at that time, why would they do it now?
Kamal stated that the unique subject of the film attracted him and he is lucky to make a film like Manikarnika. He also informed that 50 per cent of the flick is complete and they will soon start shooting for the next schedule in Rajasthan.
