Aankhen 2: Saif Ali Khan to reunite with Amitabh Bachchan after Aarakshan?

The sequel to the 2002 film Aankhen starring Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Arjun Rampal, Paresh Rawal and Sushmita Sen back on track. Titled Aankhen 2, the film will be produced by RajTaru Studios, who won the court battle against Gaurang Doshi, the producer of the original heist film. Now, latest buzz has is that the film will feature Saif Ali Khan in a lead role and if this is the case, then the Sacred Games actor will be reuniting with Big B after the 2011 film Aarakshan.

As per a report in DNA, Amitabh Bachchan and Paresh Rawal are already on board the cast of the film and Anees plans on telling a story this time with 5 characters. Thus, for two characters, Saif Ali Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez were approached by Anees Bazmee. As per the reports, Anees wanted to work with Saif who has experience of working in thriller films and thus, he asked the actor who immediately hopped on board.

As per DNA, “Both (Saif and Anees) of them had been planning to collaborate for a few years. The filmmaker was looking to cast someone for the second male lead and approached Saif with the script. The Nawab of Pataudi will essay a role similar to what Akshay Kumar had portrayed in the first part. Saif has been a part of successful thrillers such as the Race franchise. So, he jumped at this offer.”

The sequel to Aankhen was first announced in 2006. However, due to a fallout between Shah and Doshi over the name credit, the sequel got shelved. Later, it was reported that Shah's name was dropped from the sequel as the director and Sachin Pilgaonkar has taken over him.

In 2016, it was reported that filmmaker Anees Bazmee was working on a script for the film's sequel.
