Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha is the official Hindi remake of Forrest Gump.

Aamir Khan will next be seen in Laal Singh Chaddha

Aamir Khan announced his next venture Laal Singh Chaddha on his 54th birthday. The superstar, in a press meet held at his residence on his birthday announced the film and revealed few details about it. However, the release date wasn't announced. Now, as Aamir has started preparing for his role, Laal Singh Chaddha has got a release date. The movie directed by Secret Superstar fame Advait Chandan and written by Atul Kulkarni will release on next year Christmas. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to inform, ''Mark the date... Aamir Khan's new film #LaalSinghChaddha to release on #Christmas 2020... Stars Aamir in title role... Directed by Advait Chandan... Written by Atul Kulkarni... #Viacom18Movies''.

Aamir has bought the rights from Paramount and the project will be bankrolled by Viacom and Aamir Khan Productions. Rest of the cast is yet to be finalised but Aamir has started prepping-up for his character and will lose 20 kilos in six months. The actor was in Dharmshala for recce from 22nd April to 27th April. He spent his days scouting for locations with his team.

Lal Singh Chaddha will go on floors in October 2019. Reportedly, Aamir will be playing a role of Sikh and will wear turban. So, get ready to witness Aamir in a completely new avatar.

For unversed, Laal Singh Chaddha director Advait collaborated with Aamir on two projects before making his directorial debut with Zaira Wasim starrer Secret Superstar. Earlier, he has worked as an assistant director in Taare Zameen Par (2007) and Dhobi Ghat (2010).

On a related note, released in 1994, Forrest Gump is a comedy-drama based on a 1986 novel of the same name by Winston Groom. The film had Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, Gary Sinise, Mykelti Williamson, and Sally Field in pivotal roles. As per Wikipedia, Forrest Grump revolves around ''a slow-witted but kind-hearted man who witnesses and, unwittingly, influences, several defining historical events in the 20th century in the United States''.

On a related note, Aamir Khan is also giving proper attention to his NGO Paani Foundation which works for drought-hit states of Maharashtra. Recently, on International Workers' Day on May 1, his organisation conducted Mahashramdaan and even Aamir did his bit. He has been sharing pictures from his recent visit to Maharashtra villages. In one of the pictures with wife Kiran Rao, he can be seen enjoying Bhel Puri served on a sheet of newspaper and Sugarcane Juice (Ganne Ka Ras) at a local Dhaba in Zhawadarjun village of Maharashra. He wrote, "At Zhawadarjun village yesterday. Stopped for the best ganney-ka-juice on the way there."
