New Delhi: Social media played its part last year when it united superstar Aamir Khan’s fan with him. Nihal Bitla, aged 14, who was suffering from a rare genetic disorder Progeria, got a chance to meet his favourite actor and inspired billions.

Sadly, the little inspiration has passed away.

Nihal Bitla, suffered from progeria, a genetic disorder in which his body grew 8 times faster than his brain. But, despite these odds, he lived an inspiring life.

On the Facebook page of Humans of Bombay, Nihal had shared his story. He had said,

“To be honest I don't know much about the illness I have, except that I have the rare power of being young and old at the same time. That makes me believe that I can send a message to people. A message that life can go by quickly and that each day is more valuable than the next. I also believe that everything happens for a reason and I'm happy everyday. The way I look at it I've been given a finite time to do everything I love every single day without fear. Above all, I hope that people know that our time here is special and life is incredibly beautiful in every single way.”

It was in the same post that Nihal said that how Aamir Khan’s ‘Taare Zameen Par’ made him believe that one can fight all odds. His heart-touching story went viral immediately and Aamir himself met him and got a painting as a gift from the little one, which he had promised he would hang on his bedroom’s wall.

Aged 15, Nihal breathed his last at the outskirts of Mumbai. Nihal, you have taught many of us how to keep our head high and live.

May your soul rest in peace!
