Actors Akshay Kumar and Sonam Kapoor were "shocked and grateful" for their National Film Awards win. Sonam posted a picture on Instagram with Akshay Kumar. Both the actors who are currently shooting together in Maheshvar for the film Padman, appeared bewildered after the announcement.
Sonam Kapoor received a special mention for her film Neerja while Akshay Kumar won the National Film Award for Best Actor for Rustom. Soon after winning the award Akshay posted a video message on Instagram:
Padman starring Akshay Kumar and Sonam Kapoor is based on the life of social activist Arunachalam Muruganantham, who revolutionized menstrual hygiene by manufacturing low cost sanitary napkins.
