Sonu Nigam and Twitter definitely go hand-in-hand as his recent azaan tweets sparked controversies everywhere. However, all hell broke loose when the singer announced his decision to quit the social media platform today.

This isn’t the first time that a Bollywood celebrity has bid adieu to Twitter. In the past, several biggies of the industry had also waved goodbye to the social media but, only to be back with a great bang.  Will Sonu Nigam be back on Twitter too? We wonder!

This might come as a real shocker but yes, the Twitter king Rishi Kapoor also stayed away from the platform for some time. In 2015, the Kapoor and Sons actor got into a  Twitter fight with singer Abhijeet and Ajaz Khan in relation to the Salman Khan 2002 hit-and-run case verdict. After receiving disapproval and criticism from people, the 64-year-old actor decided to quit Twitter.

“Hi. Thought about it.Too much negativity abusive language and disregard for seniors. Will retire from Twitter coz it has only given me grief”, Rishi Kapoor tweeted.

However, filmmaker Sajid Khan cajoled Kapoor into not quitting Twitter. And, the veteran actor was soon back to speak his mind and heart on the social media platform.

The Badshah of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan once spoke about being a culprit of religious intolerance in the country in 2013. Following the interview, SRK was badly trolled on Twitter. 

The actor then went on to break all links with the network for a few months after putting up a post saying, “Sad, I read so much judgements, jingoism, religious intolerance on the net & I used to think, this platform will change narrow mindedness, but no!” He was later persuaded by director Abhinav Sinha to make a comeback on Twitter.

The Dangal hero Aamir Khan had to face heavy duty criticism for talking about religious intolerance in the country and about his wife wanting to leave India worried by the intolerant remarks. He quit tweeting for a while and later on his return kept his tweets strictly promotional.

Angry over remarks being passed on his separation with his long-time girlfriend Ankita Lokhande, Sushant stomped off Twitter sick of being accused. However, you cannot stay away from social media for a very long time if you are a celebrity, and the same happened with Sushant too. His return to India after the Budapest schedule of Raabta also marked his return to social media.

Tubelight star Salman Khan has  never really walked off Twitter but the superstar has threatened to do so as he was fed up with online feuds between his fans and the followers of his contemporaries Shah Rukh and Aamir Khan. He also slammed fans, who take on false identities to bad mouth actors online.
