The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah on Sunday attacked the Congress party over its manifesto for poll-bound Telangana and alleged that the grand old party and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) are engaged in "minority appeasement".

“Congress in its manifesto promised free electricity to Masjids and Churches but not for Temples. Both TRS and Congress are engaged in minority appeasement,” news agency ANI quoted Shah as saying in Narayanpet during an election rally.

On the occasion, he also attacked the president of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, Asaduddin Owaisi.

“Due to fear of Owaisi, KCR government no longer celebrates Liberation Day on 17th September. If BJP forms the govt in the state, Hyderabad Liberation Day will be celebrated in a grand way,” he said and added, “There is going to be a tripartite battle. On one side are TRS and Chandrashekhar Rao who made Telangana kneel before AIMIM, another is Congress who sent Sidhu to hug Pak army chief & on the third side are nationalists led by PM Modi.”

To constitute the second Legislative Assembly, the Telangana Legislative Assembly election is scheduled to be held in the state on 7 December.

The incumbent TRS, Congress, Telangana Jana Samithi and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) are considered to be the main players in the poll.

In Telangana, four opposition parties--the INC, the Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS), the Communist Party of India (CPI) and the TDP  have announced the formation of a 'MahaKootami' (Grand Alliance). The objective is to defeat the ruling TRS.
