Govind Singh Dotasra is the current chief of the Congress party's Rajasthan unit. He also served as Minister of State for Primary and Secondary Education under Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot from 2018 to 2021. He is also the sitting MLA from the Lachhmangarh Vidhan Sabha seat. In the 2008 Rajasthan Assembly Election, Dotasra won the Lachhmangarh constituency for the first time by defeating Independent candidate Dinesh Joshi with a margin of just 34 votes. He retained his seat in 2013 when he defeated Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subhash Maharia by 10,723 votes. Dotasra again won the constituency in the 2018 Assembly polls when BJP's Dinesh Joshi lost the seat by 22,052 votes. Dotasra is again pitted against BJP's Subhash Maharia from Lachhmangarh in the upcoming Rajasthan Assembly Election 2023.
