Karnataka elections 2023 updates: The state will witness a single phase of voting on May 10, whereas, results will be declared on May 13. Notably, the term of the 224-member Karnataka Assembly will be ending on May 24. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that more than 9.17 lakh first-time voters will participate in the upcoming Karnataka elections. Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Yogi Adityanath, and Congress leaders-- Mallikarjun Kharge and Priyanka Gandhi will hold multiple rallies in the poll-bound state.     Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Sunday said that while the BJP was seeking votes in the Karnataka Assembly polls in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Congress had adopted the PM's "vocal for local" slogan and was raising issues of the people of the state. In an interview with PTI, Ramesh said Karnataka, after four years of the BJP rule, needs 'Vitamin-P' in which the P stands for "performance" of the Congress and not "polarisation" of the BJP.

    Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday said the Congress must have “gathered some knowledge” about EVMs, as it has been predicting victory for the grand old party in the Karnataka Assembly polls. The southern state will go to polls on May 10 and counting of votes will be undertaken on May 13, with the Congress seeking to oust the incumbent BJP government. “Earlier, they (Congress) used to accuse us of problems with EVMs... So, if they can predict the result in advance, then I have to say that the party in Karnataka must have gathered some knowledge about EVMs,” Sarma told reporters here. The Congress has sounded confident of emerging victorious in Karnataka. Senior Congress leader and former minister M B Patil told PTI that it will come to power on its own with 130-odd seats out of 224 in the southern state. The BJP has announced candidates in 212 constituencies, the Congress 165, while the JD(S) has named 93 nominees.

     Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address three mega public meetings or rallies and hold a massive road show in Karnataka today as he embarks on a two-day visit to the poll-bound state.

    Since February this year, this is PM Modi's ninth visit to Karnataka where Assembly elections to 224 seats are due on May 10, and results on May 13. PM Modi will also hold a road show in Mysuru on Sunday before flying back to Delhi.
