The Election Commission on Thursday announced that polling in Tripura will take place on February 18 while polling in Meghalaya and Nagaland will be held on February 27. Counting of votes to take place on March 3.
"Election for the three states will happen in two rounds. Tripura will vote on 18 February, 2018, which is a Sunday. Meghalaya and Nagaland will vote on 27 February which is a Tuesday," said Chief Election Commissioner AK Joti.
Announcing the schedule, AK Joti said that model code of conduct in all three states comes into effect from today. The chief election commissioner added that Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) will be used in all three states.
The five-year terms of the Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura legislative assemblies is ending on March 6, March 13 and March 14 respectively.
The strength of the three assemblies is 60 members each.
