NCP leader Jonathone N Sangma shot dead in poll-bound Meghalaya

Sangma had only recently joined the NCP having come close to winning the Williamnagar seat in the previous Assembly Elections in the state in 2013.

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) candidate Jonathon N Sangma has been reportedly shot dead in poll-bound Meghalaya. According to local news reports, the leader was killed at around 7:50 pm today along with his two security guards.

Sangma was coming back from a campaign from Sobokgre and Nabokgre on his way back to Williamnagar when the incident took place, reported Time8.

Sangma had only recently joined the NCP having come close to winning the Williamnagar seat in the previous Assembly Elections in the state in 2013. He had reportedly expressed his desire to join the Sharad Pawar-led party and contest the upcoming February 27 election on its ticket.
