The Congress today retained Mungaoli Assembly seat as its candidate Brijendra Singh Yadav defeated his nearest BJP rival Baisahab Yadav by a margin of over 2,000 votes.
The Congress also won in Kolaras where its candidate Mahendra Singh Yadav defeated Devendra Jain of the BJP .
The bypolls were necessitated due to the death of Congress MLAs Mahendra Singh Kalukheda (Mungaoli) and Ram Singh Yadav (Kolaras). Voting for bypolls on both the seats were held on February 24.
