Lok Sabha Bypoll Results 2018: Don't think alliance with Shiv Sena will break, says Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis

Lok Sabha Bypoll Counting Results 2018 LIVE Updates: Tabassum Hasan of the RLD today won the Kairana Lok Sabha seat by a huge margin over her BJP rival. In the process, Tabassum has become the first Muslim face from Uttar Pradesh in the 16th Lok Sabha.

Lok Sabha Bypoll Counting Results 2018 LIVE Updates: In a big setback, the BJP on Thursday lost bypolls to two Lok Sabha seats where it had sitting candidates. The party lost Kairana parliamentary seat to Ajit Singh’s Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) and Bhandara–Gondiya seat to the Nationalist Congress Party(NCP). 

Tabassum Hasan of the RLD today won the Kairana Lok Sabha seat by a huge margin over her BJP rival. 

Hasan polled 4,81,182 votes, while Mriganka Singh of the BJP got 4,36,564 votes, a difference of 44,618 votes, the election office here said. 

In the process, Tabassum (48) has become the first Muslim face from Uttar Pradesh in the 16th Lok Sabha. 

Rashtriya Lok Dal's Tabassum Hasan was supported by the Congress, the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party as the joint opposition candidate to take on the BJP. 

BJP's Rajendra Gavit today won the Palghar Lok Sabha bypoll in Maharashtra, trouncing Shrinivas Wanaga of the Shiv Sena by 29,574 votes. 

The result was declared after completion of counting of votes in 33 rounds. Gavit polled 2,72,780 votes against 2,43,206 polled by Wanaga. 

Meanwhile, making a spectacular comeback, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Thursday bagged the prestigious Bhandara-Gondiya Lok Sabha seat, snatching it from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party by a convincing margin of over 54,000 votes.

The NCP's Madhukar Kukde secured around 376,000 votes compared to his nearest BJP rival Hemant Patle, who got around 322,000 votes.

BJP ally NDPP won Lok Sabha bypoll in Nagaland by defeating NPF candidate by over 1.73 lakh votes.

Yogi Adityanath has carried out an extensive campaign in Kairana to make sure that the saffron party avenges Gorakhpur and Phulpur.

07:25 am: The results of bypolls on the four Lok Sabha seats will test the mettle of a united opposition with that of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

07:14 am: The counting of votes will start from 8 am in the morning. According to reports, elaborate security arrangements have been made around all the counting centres.

06:34 am: The by-elections for the four Lok Sabha seats have turned into a prestige issue for the BJP, which is now at the halfway mark of 272 seats in the Lok Sabha after failing to form a government in Karnataka. 

06:32 am: Repolling at 73 booths in Kairana Lok Sabha constituency passed off peacefully on Wednesday with an estimated voter turn out of 61 per cent. The Election Commission had on Tuesday ordered repolling at these polling stations in view of technical snags in EVM-VVPAT machines during the bye-election on Monday.

06:21 am: Elections were necessitated in Kairana after the seat fell vacant in February following the death of BJP leader Hukum Singh. The BJP has fielded Mriganka Singh, daughter of Singh, from this seat.  

06:15 am: The by-election for the Nagaland seat was necessitated after the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) leader Neiphiu Rio, now chief minister of Nagaland, resigned as a Lok Sabha  member in February.

06:10 am: In UP, the outcome of the Kairana bye-election will show if the ruling BJP manages to break its losing streak this year in Lok Sabha bypolls held in the state previously or hands over a hat-trick to the opposition.
