Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections 2018: BJP candidate Devi Singh Patel from Rajpur constituency passes away after cardiac arrest

Ahead of Madhya Pradesh Assembly Election 2018, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Rajpur assembly constituency passed away after suffering a heart attack early Monday morning.

A four-time legislator, Devi Singh Patel breathed his last today at 5 am in a Barwani hospital, three weeks ahead of the Assembly elections in the state.

The ruling party had announced Patel’s name as one of its candidates in the first list, which came on Friday.

He was due to contest election against Congress leader Bala Bachchan from Rajpur assembly constituency.

Patel was elected three times as a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Madhya Pradesh's Anjad assembly constituency. He became the MLA for the first time in 1989.

The BJP leader's cremation will take place in his native place Bandrakachchh in Madhya Pradesh.
