The INC, the BJP are the main parties in the constituency. In the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Abu Hasem Khan Chowdhury (dalu) from INC won the seat with a margin of 8,222 votes. Abu Hasem Khan Chowdhury (dalu) was polled 444,270 votes with a vote share of 35.00 % and defeated Sreerupa Mitra Chaudhury from BJP who got 436,048 votes (34.07 %). In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Abu Hasem Khan Chowdhury from INC won the seat and was polled 380,291 votes with a vote share of 34.81%. BJP Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Results -BJP candidate Bisnu Pada Roy got 216,180 votes (19.79 %) and was the runner-up.Abu Hasem Khan Chowdhury defeated Bisnu Pada Roy by a margin of 164,111 votes.
