The BJP, the BSP are the main parties in the constituency. In the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Arun Kumar Sagar from BJP won the seat with a margin of 268,418 votes. Arun Kumar Sagar was polled 688,990 votes with a vote share of 58.00 % and defeated Amar Chandra Jauhar from BSP who got 420,572 votes (35.43 %). In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Krishna Raj from BJP won the seat and was polled 525,132 votes with a vote share of 46.45%.
