S. was polled 574,988 votes with a vote share of 47.00 % and defeated Anbumani Ramadoss from PMK who got 504,235 votes (41.18 %). In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Anbumani Ramadoss from PMK won the seat and was polled 468,194 votes with a vote share of 42.46%.
