The Sundargarh seat comprises 7 Assembly segments including Talsara, Sundargarh, Biramitrapur, Raghunathpali, Rourkela, Rajgangapur, Bonai. The constituency is a ST seat. The BJP, the BJD are the main parties in the constituency. In the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Jual Oram from BJP won the seat with a margin of 223,065 votes. Jual Oram was polled 500,056 votes with a vote share of 45.00 % and defeated Sunita Biswal from BJD who got 276,991 votes (25.16 %). In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Jual @ Juel Oram from BJP won the seat and was polled 340,508 votes with a vote share of 33.69%. BJD Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Results -BJD candidate Dilip Kumar Tirkey got 321,679 votes (31.83 %) and was the runner-up.Jual @ Juel Oram defeated Dilip Kumar Tirkey by a margin of 18,829 votes.
