The constituency is a GENERAL seat. The BJP, the INC are the main parties in the constituency. In the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Dr Rajkumar Ranjan Singh from BJP won the seat with a margin of 17,755 votes. Dr Rajkumar Ranjan Singh was polled 263,632 votes with a vote share of 35.00 % and defeated Oinam Nabakishore Singh from INC who got 245,877 votes (32.33 %). In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Dr. Thokchom Meinya from INC won the seat and was polled 292,102 votes with a vote share of 45.55%. CPI Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Results -CPI candidate Moirangthem Nara got 197,428 votes (30.78 %) and was the runner-up.Dr. Thokchom Meinya defeated Moirangthem Nara by a margin of 94,674 votes.
