The BJP, the INC are the main parties in the constituency. In the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Gaddigoudar Parvatagouda Chandanagouda from BJP won the seat with a margin of 168,187 votes. Gaddigoudar Parvatagouda Chandanagouda was polled 664,638 votes with a vote share of 55.00 % and defeated Veena Kashappanavar from INC who got 496,451 votes (41.21 %). In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Gaddigoudar Parvtagouda Chandanagouda from BJP won the seat and was polled 571,548 votes with a vote share of 52.95%. INC Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Results -INC candidate Ajay Kumar Sarnaik got 454,988 votes (42.15 %) and was the runner-up.Gaddigoudar Parvtagouda Chandanagouda defeated Ajay Kumar Sarnaik by a margin of 116,560 votes.
