The BJP, the JVM are the main parties in the constituency. In the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Annpurna Devi from BJP won the seat with a margin of 455,600 votes. Annpurna Devi was polled 753,016 votes with a vote share of 62.00 % and defeated Babu Lal Marandi from JVM who got 297,416 votes (24.59 %). In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Ravindra Kr. Ray from BJP won the seat and was polled 365,410 votes with a vote share of 35.65%. CPI(ML)(L) Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Results -CPI(ML)(L) candidate Rajkumar Yadav got 266,756 votes (26.03 %) and was the runner-up.Ravindra Kr. Ray defeated Rajkumar Yadav by a margin of 98,654 votes.
