The JD(U), the INC are the main parties in the constituency. In the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Baidyanath Prasad Mahto from JD(U) won the seat with a margin of 354,616 votes. Baidyanath Prasad Mahto was polled 602,660 votes with a vote share of 58.00 % and defeated Shashwat Kedar from INC who got 248,044 votes (24.03 %). In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Satish Chandra Dubey from BJP won the seat and was polled 364,013 votes with a vote share of 40.44%. INC Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Results -INC candidate Purnmasi Ram got 246,218 votes (27.35 %) and was the runner-up.Satish Chandra Dubey defeated Purnmasi Ram by a margin of 117,795 votes.
