Ram Kripal Yadav was polled 509,557 votes with a vote share of 47.00 % and defeated Misha Bharti from RJD who got 470,236 votes (43.59 %). In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Ram Kripal Yadav from BJP won the seat and was polled 383,262 votes with a vote share of 39.16%. Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury lost to TMC candidate Yusuf Pathan in Baharampur constituency by around 85,022 votes, according to the Election Commission of India data. Adhir Chowdhury secured 4,39,494 votes while Yusuf Pathan secured 5,24,516 votes.
