With election fever gripping the nation, Bollywood celebrities and famous personalities have been encouraging their fans and followers to go out and make their vote count.

Making full use of the power of social media, India cricket captain Virat Kohli, in his Instagram story on Sunday, said he was "ready" to cast his vote in the ongoing Lok Sabha election.

Sharing his voter identity card, Kohli, who represents the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise in the IPL, said, "Ready to vote in Gurugram on the 12th May. Are you?"

However, Kohli later deleted the story -- quite naturally, because he had disclosed personal information on a public platform. He later posted only the front side of his voter identity card and blurred out the details.

The development is in contrast with earlier media reports that said Kohli would not be able to cast his vote from Gurugram as he wanted to vote from Mumbai, where his wife Anushka Sharma resides.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier urged several sports personalities to influence the citizens to vote, following which a host of cricket icons, including the likes of Anil Kumble, VVS Laxman, and Virendra Sehwag came forward with posts on the social media asking their followers to vote.
