Election Commission of India has appointed KK Sharma, Retired DG BSF as Special Central Police Observer for West Bengal and Jharkhand.

Bharatiya Janata Party has claimed victory in two assembly seats 'uncontested' in Arunachal Pradesh. The polling on Aalo East constituency and Yachuli constituency was scheduled to be held on April 11.

Full list of 39 candidates announced by BJP today

BJP UP chief Mahendra Nath Pandey to contest from Chandoli, Union Minister Manoj Sinha from Ghazipur. Ram Shankar Katheria to contest from Etawah. Jagdambika Pal to contest from Domariagan (UP). Humayun Kabir to contest from Murshidabad (West Bengal). Actor Joy Banerjee from Ulberia (West Bengal).

BJP has fielded Jaya Prada from Rampur. Issuing a fresh list of candidates for Lok Sabha elections, BJP announced that newly inducted Bollywood actress against SP's Azam Khan. Meneka Gandhi will contest polls from Sultanpur, currently held by her son Varun Gandhi. 

Varun Gandhi will contest from Pilibhit. The seats have been swapped between mother-son duo. Rita Bahuguna Joshi has been fielded from Allahabad, an erstwhile bastion of her father. The party also issued a list of 10 candidates from West Bengal. The list of Delhi candidates is also expected today. 

Former BJP leader Shatrughan Sinha is set to join Congress on March 28 in New Delhi. Speculations are rife that Shatrughan Sinha will contest Patna Sahib seat from Congress ticket. He is currently MP from the same seat but from BJP ticket. BJP has fielded Ravi Shankar Prasad from the seat. 

BJP leader Smriti Irani attacked Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi and questioned her devotion towards Lord Rama. "The Congress party which once questioned the existence of Lord Rama is today pretending to be His devotees," Irani said in a public meeting in UP's Bhadohi. BJP has once again fielded her against Rahul Gandhi in Congress bastion Amethi. Smriti Irani also attacked Congress and Rahul Gandhi for allegedly supporting Pakistan in the aftermath of Pulwama terror attack.

After LK Advani, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) veteran leader Murli Manohar Joshi will not be contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2019.  As per reports, Joshi was asked by party general secretary Ramlal to not contest the election. On social media, a message doing the rounds, reportedly by Joshi to the voters of Kanpur, also mentioned that he had been asked to stay out of the poll.

The BJP on Monday released names of four more Lok Sabha election candidates and announced its nominee for Odisha's Bijepur assembly constituency, the second seat from where Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is contesting the state polls.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi will be visiting Rajasthan Tuesday for a day during which he is slated to address two poll campaign rallies, besides a meeting of his party workers.

Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis on Monday inaugurated a video song, dedicated for PM Narendra Modi-Tu jeet k liye bana-at his official residence. Bhojpuri superstar Ravi Kishan has sung the song. Poet Virendra Singh Vats has written it.
