If there's a list of Opposition leaders who take on the Modi government dominantly, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's name should be on top. Despite the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) pushing hard to gain ground in West Bengal, Mamata's Trinamool Congress (TMC) appears to be holding its fort strongly, IndiaTV-CNX Opinion Poll shows.
According to IndiaTV-CNX Opinion Poll for 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Trinamool Congress is set to dominate. Mamata's party may win 27 seats, while the BJP may get just eight seats out 42 Lok Sabha seats.
The Left Front, which ruled in Bengal for decades may get only five seats and the Congress would be contained to just a couple of seats, the Opinion Poll shows.
Vote share wise, TMC’s vote share may dip from 39.79 per cent in 2014 to 36.2 per cent in 2019, while BJP's vote share may rise from 17.02 per cent in 2014 to 27.77 per cent in 2019.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, the TMC had won 34 seats, BJP two, Left Front two and Congress four seats.
