A Congress delegation today filed a complaint in the Election Commission against the film PM Narendra Modi. The delegation led by Kapil Sibal asked the Election Commission to issue a directive to postpone the release of the biopic on the life of the incumbent prime minister until after general elections as the film violates the model code of conduct, they said.
"We represented to the EC that there is a film being made on Narendra Modi, to be launched just a few days before the election, it's purpose is political," Sibal told media after meeting the EC panel.
Three producers and actor belong to BJP, the director is involved in Vibrant Gujarat, this is violative of all norms, Sibal said.
The film PM Narendra Modi is slated to be released on April 5. The trailer of the film was released recently and has already garnered 19 million views on Youtube.
