Andhra Pradesh is heading into its first elections post bifurcation.The registered voters will vote for 25 Lok Sabha seats and 175 Assembly seats.
Andhra Pradesh has around 4 crore voters of which over 50 per cent are female. Over 10 lakh of the voters will be voting for the first time majority of whom are in the 18-19 age group.175 Assembly seats will be contested by over 2100 candidates and 25 Lok Sabha seats will be contested by over 310 candidates.
The authorities expect over 80 per cent voter turnout this time as compared to 78 per cent in 2014. The Left-wing extremist areas bordering Odisha and Chhattisgarh will see the voting end at 4 PM.
Para-Military has been deployed in the Maoist hit areas for the smooth conduct of elections. The enforcement agencies have been very active in Andhra Pradesh with over 200 crore of cash and other valuables been seized in the last one month alone.
Liquor worth over 25 lakh was also confiscated during this time.
It is expected to be one of the most closely fought contests in recent history.
Over 46 thousand polling stations have been set up across the state with over 8500 of them being in critical areas.
For the first time, TDP in these elections will be contested without any pre-poll alliance.
