IndiaTv-VMR Exit Poll predicts that Bharatiya Janata Party will retain its stronghold by winning 108 to 118 seats. Congress is expected to win 61 to 71 seats, while others will get only 2 to 4 seats. 

The high-octane elections in Bharatiya Janata Party's stronghold Gujarat came to a close on 5 pm on December 14. 

In the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the voter turnout in the first phase stood at 66.75 per cent. The 89 seats that went to polls were in the Saurasthra, Kutch and south Gujarat regions.

In second phase, the voter turnout till 5 pm stood at 68.7 per cent. Polling was held across remaining 93 constituencies in 14 districts with a host of VVIPs, including Prime Minister Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah, arriving in Ahmedabad to exercise their franchise. Full coverage of Gujarat Assembly Elections 2017

As the voting drew to a close in two phased elections, the controversies continued to hog the lime light. PM Modi's alleged roadshow after casting his vote in Ahmedabad on Thursday created uproar as Congress filed a complaint at Election Commission, before terming the constitutional body a puppet of BJP. IndiaTv-VMR Exit poll predicts overwhelming victory for BJP in North Gujarat as well. The ruling party is likely to win 33 seats in North Gujarat, while Congress may sweep 19 seats. The information collected for the purpose of Exit Poll in North Gujarat was collected till 2 pm on Thursday. 

Expected seat share: BJP - 30-36; Congress - 17-21; and others 0-2 

Expected vote share: BJP - 48%; Congress 41%; Others 13%

Expected seat share: BJP- 23-27; Congress - 12-16; and others - 0-2 

Expected vote share: BJP - 47%; Congress 41%; Others 12%

Opinion poll prediction: BJP (23-27), Congress (13-17), Others (0); BJP - 46%, Congress - 40%, Others - 14%
