Noida schools to be closed on Friday following rise in Yamuna water level

The decision has been taken due to the rise in the water level of Yamuna River over the past three days and the possibility of heavy rainfall tomorrow.

The district administration of Noida has ordered the closure of all schools tomorrow, July 14. The decision has been taken following the rise in the water level of Yamuna River due to incessant rain for the past three days and the possibility of heavy rainfall tomorrow. The city is facing water logging issues in many places and flood-like situations have arisen in some places.

The District Inspector of Schools (DIoS) Dr Dharamveer Singh in a letter ordered the closure of all schools of classes up to 12th on July 14 in view of the increase in the water level of Yamuna River due to heavy rainfall and the possibility of rain. As reported by the PTI, the water level of Yamuna River has shot up from the danger mark of 205.33. The water level further breached the previous all-time record of 207.49 metres by 1 pm on Wednesday and the 208-metre mark by 10 pm.

In view of the flood-like situation and keeping in view of the children, Singh declared a holiday for July 14. Moreover, in Delhi, the water of the Yamuna River has come onto the roads. The national capital is facing issues like water-logging and flood-like situations in many areas. People are also being evacuated from populated areas where flood-like situations have arisen. Earlier today, the Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal announced holiday in all government and private schools in waterlogged areas of Delhi.

The district administration of Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh has announced holidays in all schools till July 15. Amid the heavy rainfall and water logging issues, the District Magistrate has also issued an advisory for the local people.
