Delhi: Amid worsening air pollution conditions in the national capital, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday announced that all primary schools in Delhi will be shut from Saturday onwards till the situation improves.
In a joint press conference with Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal announced that schools in the national capital would be closed from tomorrow, November 5, 2022.
'We're taking all steps to control the pollution situation. In lieu of that, we're shutting down all primary schools in Delhi from tomorrow... Also shutting down outdoor activities for all classes above class 5,' said Delhi CM.
The Chairperson of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) Priyank Kanoongo also issued a notice to the Delhi government asking them to close schools in the national capital due to the rising pollution levels. Schools in Noida have been closed and have already switched to online classes for students in Classes 1 to 8. The state govt has advised online mode of education for senior students as well.
